چکیده

In their description of the changes seen in the bronchograms of patients with chronic bronchitis, Simon and Galbraith (1953) described the absence of peripheral filling as the most frequent change in the lung periphery and also the presence of " pools," the name applied to dense blobs of contrast medium, 3-5 mm. in diameter, which arise from the peripheral part of the bronchial tree. The present investigation is concerned with the significance of the lack of filling and the nature of the "pools" in patients with chronic bronchitis. The opportunity has also been taken to investigate another abnormal shadow with a spiked outline which is sometimes seen in patients with chronic bronchitis and emphysema.

Bronchography in chronic bronchitis.

Bronchograms were made in eight men, chosen on clinical grounds as representative of three grades of severity in a series of 67 male bronchitis studied prospectively over a period of 10 years, with the object of ascertaining the anatomical condition at the end of this period. In the stationary group the bronchograms showed only a mild mucous reaction, and peripheral filling was generally good. ...

Bronchoscopy and bronchography in emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Demonstration of morphologic changes in an attempt at appraisal of severity of functional impairment.

S TIMES AND INVESTIGATIVE METHODS change and contrast media are improved , one is tempted to assemble the various findings and correlate them with the known pathologic alterations in chronic bronchitis and pulmonary emphysema. The following text and illustrations deal with certain aspects of morphologic findings as seen by the clinician in the course of a pulmonary study. This study is based up...

Interpretation of bronchograms and chest radiographs in patients with chronic sputum production.

Bronchograms and plain chest radiographs of 27 patients with chronic sputum production were reported separately in random order and independently by two pulmonary radiologists to establish the diagnostic rate of each investigation and to assess interobserver variation. Both radiologists agreed on the presence of bronchiectasis on bronchography in 19 of 27 (70%) patients and in 94 of 448 (21%) b...

The bronchographic appearance of "peripheral pooling" attributed to the filling of centrilobular emphysematous spaces.

The bronchographic appearance of clusters of spherical opacities seen at the periphery of the bronchial tree has been termed " peripheral pooling" by Simon and Galbraith (1953). It was a common abnormality in the bronchograms of the advanced cases of chronic bronchitis they studied, being found in 14 of the 21 bronchograms from patients whose standard radiographs suggested emphysema. No precise...
